Supporting You Through Life’s Challenges — With Compassion, Insight, and Connection
At Healing Legacy Counseling, we believe healing happens in connection — with yourself, with others, and with the systems that shape your life. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, grief, or the ripple effects of past trauma, individual therapy offers a dedicated space to explore your story, gain insight, and move toward meaningful change.
We offer individual counseling to clients across the lifespan, and are trained to help you navigate the complexities of each stage of modern life. Many of our clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply unsure of how to move forward. Together, we work to untangle those feelings and help you reconnect with your values, strengths, and goals.
What Individual Therapy Looks Like at Our Practice
Individual therapy at our practice is anything but one-size-fits-all. We see you as the expert of your own experience — and we walk alongside you as compassionate collaborators, helping you make sense of where you’ve been and envision where you’re headed.
We draw from a systemic approach to therapy, which means we consider the broader contexts that shape your life — including your family history, community, relationships, culture, and identity. We also integrate evidence-based modalities such as:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – to explore how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – to strengthen emotional regulation and distress tolerance
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) – to connect with and heal the different “parts” of yourself
- Narrative Therapy – to help you re-author the stories you tell about yourself and your life
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – to help process and heal from trauma by targeting distressing memories and reducing their emotional charge
Our work together might include developing practical coping skills, deepening self-awareness, exploring past wounds, or identifying patterns that are no longer serving you — all within a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship.

Common Concerns We Address
People seek individual therapy for many reasons, and no issue is too big or too small to bring into the therapy room. Some of the common concerns we work with include:
- Anxiety and chronic worry
- Depression and low mood
- Trauma and post-traumatic stress
- Relationship challenges and attachment wounds
- ADHD and executive functioning difficulties
- Grief and loss
- Life transitions (career shifts, parenthood, divorce, relocation)
- Identity exploration
- Stress and burnout
We recognize that symptoms often don’t exist in a vacuum. They’re shaped by — and sometimes reinforced by — your environment, your relationships, and your past experiences. That’s why our therapists are committed to addressing the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
Individual Therapy Across the Lifespan
Our systemic, person-centered approach is flexible and developmentally informed, allowing us to work effectively with clients of all ages — from young children to older adults. While the goals of therapy may differ across the lifespan, our core commitment remains the same: creating a supportive, respectful space where individuals can heal, grow, and thrive.
Children (Ages 4–12)
When working with children, we use play-based and expressive interventions to help young clients process emotions, navigate challenges, and build emotional resilience. Play is a child’s natural language — and therapy provides a safe environment where that language can be understood and supported. We also work closely with caregivers to support their child’s progress and strengthen the parent-child relationship. Our systemic lens helps us consider school dynamics, family structure, cultural influences, and other important factors in your child’s world.
Adolescents and Teens
Adolescence is a time of rapid change, identity exploration, and often, emotional turbulence. Our therapists build trusting relationships with teens while helping them develop healthy coping skills, process difficult emotions, and navigate relationships with peers and family. We maintain open communication with caregivers when appropriate, while also honoring the teen’s growing need for autonomy and privacy. We recognize that mental health support during this stage can have a lasting impact on future well-being.
Adults of All Ages
Adult clients often come to us juggling a complex web of responsibilities and relationships — careers, caregiving roles, romantic partnerships, aging parents, or evolving identities. Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and gain clarity. Whether you’re navigating stress, trauma, grief, or a desire for deeper self-understanding, we tailor our approach to your goals and values. For emerging adults, we offer support as you navigate new responsibilities and identities in your life. For older adults, we honor the unique transitions and life stories that shape later stages of life.
Accessible, Flexible, and Centered on You
Located in Northeastern Ohio, we also offer secure telehealth services across the state — allowing you to engage in therapy from the comfort of your home. We accept a range of insurance plans, including CareSource Medicaid, and can work with your insurance carrier to facilitate reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits.
Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’re returning after time away, our therapists will meet you with warmth, respect, and curiosity. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. We’re here to walk with you.
